A late wrap up on Social Innovation Camp Brno
Apologies for the very late nature of this post, things have been a bit manic at Social Innovation Camp headquarters, but here FINALLY is the write up of Social Innovation Camp Brno which took place in March.
After running meetups and pre-camps all around the Czech Republic, the team at Brno finally selected six ideas to it through the final weekend. And sixty-five people came along to turn them into reality. The six resulting ventures were…
- WINNER: Kanarci.cz (Canary.cz) received a 25,000 CZK grant and the services of a specialised IT team for a week.
Project team Kanarci.cz worked on a mobile device that measures air pollution at a given place. This accuracy is important as air composition is extremely volatile and can differ substantially over short distances. Canary could offer an additional service to hydro-meteorological stations. The project continues the tradition of DIY and civic science activism. An important added value is the visualisation of the data on a publicly accessible website or via custom mobile app.
- WINNER of the Sponsor prize: UmSemUmTam (SkillHereSkillThere) received a 30,000 CZK grant
Project connects NGOs requiring professional help, to professionals who could fulfil this demand by performing unpaid short-term tasks. The project creates an open and trusted platform that enables demand to meet supply. It will also change attitudes towards volunteering as a skilled persuit.
- Pra-Pra (Grand-Grand)
Pra-Pra focuses on connecting seniors with youth in order to exchange experiences. Their motto is “You will use in the youth what you have learned when old.“ Pra-Pra helps us to learn or know what we forgot to learn from our grandparents. Pra-Pra involves online and offline meetings.
- Slibujeme.cz (WePromise)
Slibujeme.cz is public tool that enables watchdogs, including the public, NGOs and the media to control election promises of politicians. The tool allows one to upload election leaflets and use their content for lobbying.
- ecoUp
A mobile application that coaches its users to change their behaviour and consumer habits into an environmentally friendly life style.
- TyDobroTy (Delicious)
Web application that connects socially responsible and ethically run restaurants and cafes to create a network, which gives access and direction to the consumer.
Congratulations to all the teams and good luck for the future! We look forward to hearing more about you soon!
